Jenny Scheinman kicks off The New Jewish Music Series with an evening of adventurous, genre-defying music rooted in jazz and contemporary composition.
A widely acclaimed violinist and composer, Scheinman has collaborated with artists ranging from Lou Reed and Joni Mitchell to Bill Frisell and Allison Miller. Her work has also explored Jewish musical elements through projects including The Rabbi's Lover and other albums on John Zorn’s Tzadik records. For this special performance, she brings her latest project to Columbus—new music inspired by stories from her Jewish grandmother's remarkable life in 1930s Europe.
Performed by a world-class ensemble, the music is intimate, expansive, lyrical, and deeply personal.
